Why “One Head per Floor” Is Not a Design Method
ENERGY STAR and DOE guidance emphasize load-based HVAC sizing. Closed bedrooms, long hallways and rooms with different exposure can have very different heating and cooling loads. A contractor should explain how conditioned air reaches each room under realistic door positions and occupancy—not simply count floors.

- Where will every supply/return or indoor unit physically go?
- How will condensate drain in cooling mode?
- Are ducts inside conditioned space, or will they run through a hot/cold attic?
- What electrical circuits and outdoor-unit locations are required?

- How is comfort handled in bathrooms, small bedrooms and rooms with closed doors?
